Sclerotherapy (Spider Veins) 2017-08-04T20:14:41+00:00

Sclerotherapy is a safe and effective procedure for reducing spider veins.  An injectible sclerosing agent is utilized that is more effective and causes less pain than superficial laser treatment.  Using a tiny micro-needle, the provider will inject small amounts of the sclerosing agent into the vein. This solution displaces the blood in the vein and causes irritation to the lining of the vein.  The vein swells shut and gradually disappears.  Light compression stockings aid in healing and are recommended for one week after treatment. Often 2-4 treatments are required for the desired results and are scheduled every 6-8 weeks. Insurance companies consider sclerotherapy for spider veins to be a cosmetic treatment and will not cover the expenses. We make every effort to work with you to finish this final portion of comprehensive care for your veins.
